  Welcome to the dregs of the American education system. I will admit my experience with this place may not really be applicable anymore, since I was only sent there over 10 years ago back in '98 or so when I was in 7th grade for the 2 day school suspension program, but I also have had some acquiantances back in the day of some bigger troublemakers who got sent there for year long stays or more. I got sent there twice for getting into fights at carl sandburg jr high, usually in the boys gym locker room (sadly I would continue getting into fights throughout high school in the locker rooms). I was sent there as punishment, and having been inside I truly feel bad for any kid who would be sent there not as punishment, but because they really do have some disabilities and truly need extra care and help. Take my review with a grain of salt, since I think many things may have changed in the 10 or so years since I've been around, and I sure do hope so. I also think it's sad to see how there's so many racial minority kids at this place. If you've ever been inside the building you know how grim it looks, it's pretty obvious you're not in a regular school, smiles on faces are hard to be found here on anyone. Also be VERY VERY wary of sending any small children to this place for ANY reason, as there are many kids who have ended up here for such offenses as being caught with drugs at school.
